Halloween, my favorite holiday (and wedding anniversary!), is just around the corner. This year I am not dressing up for the big day (I'll be on an airplane--more on that later), but I know many of you are. Halloween costumes aren't just for kids, after all! And, since this year October 31st is on a Friday, the options for parties are limitless.
So if you're dressing up this year, what are you planning on being? And how are you going to create the look?
Here are some resources, events, and other makeup/Halloween related items for you to consider this year:
Halloween Makeup Contest
Head over to this website for a fun Halloween makeup contest. You have to enter by the 25th, but you could win a $50 gift certificate for online cosmetics. Not bad!
When in Doubt Go Goth!
If you don't want to get all dressed up this Halloween but you still want to celebrate a bit, just embrace your dark side. Paint your nails black, goth up your eye makeup, or apply a coat of black lipstick. It will get you in the spirit!
Want to Look Like the Members of KISS?
A lot of people come to my site looking for information on the band KISS and their makeup stylings. I have never been a big fan of KISS (Gene Simmons frightened me as a kid), but if you visit this site, you'll get all the advice you need.
Still Need a Costume?
Check out Ricky's Halloween website! The NYC-based playground for beauty products is getting into the Halloween spirit by launching a new site with all their costumes...and they ship all over the country. They have some funny, innovative, and topical costumes this year (you can even be Joe the Plumber...barf! Or Sarah Palin--not THAT's a scary costume!).
Don't Know What to Do With Your Hair?
Check out Daily Makeover's special Halloween hair section for inspiration.
More Sites to Help You Out
Here are a few places on the Internet that may help you as you prepare for fright night:
The Hair & Makeup Artist Network will host its first annual Monster Ball Halloween Celebration on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 at Tangier in Los Feliz. On hand will be scores of celebrity hair and makeup artists from film, television, and print, transforming staff and performers into various ghastly ghouls.
The Monster Ball will provide an opportunity for guests to mix, mingle, and scream with some of the entertainment industry's top directors, producers, photographers, agents, and of course, hair and makeup artists, who will be creating "walking billboards" to showcase their work.
Doors will open at 8pm. A cover charge of $25 before 10pm guarantees a drink ticket and food. Live music from The Trainwrecks and Fu Dogs starts at 10pm. The evening will also include a DJ, costume contest, and door prizes donated by Cinema Secrets, Elain Cosmetics, Mothership Salon, Vivid M.D. Skincare and more.
