New Bare Escentuals Today on QVC

I just got this message, so I'm a little late for the first showing. However, I thought you might be interested in hearing about this. Bare Escentuals is launching a brand new line today on QVC. It's called Beautiful in Pearls. The line blends the depth and texture reminiscent of fine pearls into cosmetics and each shade in the collection matches a hue of pearls on the “Beautiful in Pearls” necklace created by Honora.

Again, it airs
November 7th at noon, 4pm and 10pm ET or you can shop online at Bare Escentuals on QVC.

I'll try to track down more info on this line and will get it to you soon. Until then, head over to QVC and check it out if you're a Bare Escentuals fan!

Beauty Quickies, Part 2

As we are all painfully aware, money is tight at the moment. These beauty and personal care products will make you feel pampered without having to spend a lot:

MS. MANICURE
One easy thing to cut out of your budget are all the extras...you know, morning coffees from Starbucks and regular pedicures and manicures. I can't help you with the coffee thing (actually, I can! Pick up a Keurig and brew single-serve coffee at home before heading out for work or school), but for your nails, I whole heartedly recommend Ms. Manicure products.

I've mentioned them before, but I was using a Ms. Manicure nail kit the other day and was impressed with the number of tools you get for next to nothing. Their Handy Dandy Mani solves all of your impromptu nail issues. Featuring Cuticle Nippers, Nail Clippers, Nail Scissors, Wood Cuticle Sticks, a Nail Brush, a Washable Salon Board, 4-Way Nail Buffer, and Slant Tip Tweezers, this beauty booty will keep your nails looking fresh and clean. At just $9.99 for the kit, you can keep on at home and stash one at your desk (or in your locker). Nice! Click here for more info.

ECO-TOOLS BRANCHING OUT
I really like Eco-Tools makeup brushes because they're inexpensive, high quality, and are made from good-for-the-earth materials. Now Eco-Tools is coming out with personal care products like “Clean Skin, Cleaner World” Body Wash ($7.99), “Sustainable Softness” Body Lotion ($7.99), “One Hand Helps the Other” Hand Cream ($7.99), and “Blooming Planet” Body Mist ($7.99). Their new line of products is 98% from nature, paraben-free, phthalate-free, dermatologist-tested and cruelty free. Check their website for retailers.

MOUTH FRESHENING TRIO
So you've spent a ton of time (and money) making sure your skin is perfect, your makeup amazing, and your body perfumed and primed for the day. But don't forget to focus on your breath! If you want to get long-lasting freshness and a very clean feeling mouth, try the new trio of Crest Extra White Plus Scope Outlast ($3.25 for 4 oz. or $4.25 for 7.6 oz.), Oral-B Advantage Floss Picks Plus Scope Outlast Flavor ($3.49 for a bag of 75), and Scope Outlast mouthwash ($4.99 for 750 ml or $5.99 for 1250 ml).

These products is infused with the advanced Outlast technology that binds tightly with select receptors in your mouth, triggering a minty fresh sensation that lasts longer than ordinary products. I've been using the trio for a few weeks now and WOW! They really make you mouth minty and fresh. And fresh breath is a perfect fashion accessory since it's always in season! Look out for them at drugstores and big-box retailers this month.

Beauty Product of the Week: Brow Pen

What is it? Anastasia's new Brow Pen, "is a long-wearing, soft-tipped brow pen. It glides on easily, clinging to both skin and hair, for a lush and natural look. Use it as a base to increase your current brow makeup's staying power or to fill in sparse areas for a fuller look. It dries quickly, lasts all day, and its water-based formula is easily removed with soap and water." Hitting the markets now (or soon!) in a universal shade for $21.00.

What did you think? Being blonde, I am always a little nervous about how brow pencils and other brow products will look with my fair complexion. That said, I--like most people--have some spotty areas in my eyebrows that require a bit of filling.

The Brow Pen lightly filled in the spaces in my brows, making them look fuller and much better. Anastasia Brow Pen did not give me an overdone look. My brows looked very natural after using the Brow Pen.

Here's a trick I've found when using this product: to make it look it's best, apply the Brow Pen while standing back a bit from a mirror. If you are too close to the mirror, you may end up overfilling certain areas which could give you look that is too dark.

Unlike some other products I've used, the Brow Pen does not slip or smudge and it feels so light that you'll forget you even have it on.

Final verdict? I love this product and have added it to my daily beauty routine! If you can only afford to buy one Anastasia product, this should be the one. It's so easy to use and the results are subtle yet so dynamic. Your brows will look fuller and more shapely without noticeable lines you sometimes get from brow pencils. And the universal brow color means you don't have to worry about picking the right--or wrong--shade. Perfect!

Sunday Quickies!

Wow! What a week I just got through. I worked overtime every day (Monday through Friday) and then had to pull a full day on Saturday. I'm exhausted, I'm sick of computers, and I'm fed up with florescent lighting and bosses who know no boundaries between work and life. And the sad part is that things won't be letting up for me any time soon. I am going to do my best to keep the blog moving along without interruption, but there may be absences every now and then throughout August.

My thoughts are scattered right now, so I am just going to give you a few little morsels of beauty product advice to keep you all sated. Here's goes:

LAST CHANCE TO ENTER TO WIN ANASTASIA PRODUCTS!
I'm giving away some Anastasia brow products. A winner will be picked tomorrow, so enter NOW! Click here for details.

TREAT YOURSELF AND SAVE MONEY!
The other day, I posted an entry about overly expensive beauty products that I refuse to try because I am far too cheap. In that post, I mentioned that I've never bought GoSMILE products, and many of you agreed. GoSMILE makes insanely expensive oral hygiene products, including "designer" toothpastes in flavors like lemon and mango. One tube of their toothpaste can cost as much as $16! $16!!!

Well...here's a way to save some cash and use fancy-pants toothpaste at the same time. Try out Crest Whitening Expressions. For less than $4 a tube, you can brush your teeth with good-for-you whitening toothpastes in yummy "designer" flavors like Wintergreen Ice, Extreme Herbal Mint, Refreshing Vanilla Mint, or (my personal favorite) Cinnamon Rush. See? You CAN add some luxury to your daily toothbrushing routine without spending a ton of money. Take THAT GoSMILE!

BOOTS PRODUCTS ON SALE AT CVS.COM!
From now until August 15th, for every two Boots products you purchase on CVS.com you will get one free! And if you purchase $50 or more, shipping is free. Boots, the British drugstore that makes a whole line of skincare and beauty products, has some great stuff. I love their lip balm and their Quick Thinking 4-in-1 face wipes. Check out CVS, stock up and SAVE on some high quality beauty goods! You'll be happy you did.

OTHER RANDOM THINGS TO CHECK OUT

  • My friend and fellow blogger, Phairhead just indulged in some retail therapy at The Body Shop and wants you to do the same. Click here to find out why.

Double Duty!

I'm a lip product junkie. On any given day, I typically have at least 4 tubes of lipstick or lipgloss floating around in my purse. It's rare if I have actual cash in my wallet and I can never seem to find my cell phone, but when it comes to fishing out a tube of lip color from my always cluttered purse, I can find it like a magnet finds metal. The last time I stopped and paid attention to my lipstick hording ways, I was equally amused and disgusted to find that I had squirreled away just under two dozen lip products in my bag. Yikes!

Well, for all the lip obsessed out there (myself included), there's a thoughtfully packaged lip product that gives you two for one: Senna Cosmetic's Lip Sync. For $24, you get both a lipgloss and a lipstick in the same shade (another plus! I can't tell you how many times I found the perfect lipstick shade but wished that it came in a gloss...or the other way around!) in a double-stacked tube. The packaging on this product really is inventive. I think I used the word "clever" to describe it to one of my family members.

Right now, Senna is only offering three shades: A La Mode--a rosy peach; Paris Pink--a true, soft pink; and Stunning--an earthy shade with hints of coral. You can either wear the lipstick or gloss alone, or layer them up for a completely new look. Both the gloss and the stick have a pleasant cookie (what they call biscotti) flavor. I hope they add new colors for the upcoming Fall and Winter seasons! I love the innovative packaging and the fact that you are getting two products for the price of one. Both my wallet AND my handbag approve!

Well THIS Sounds Fishy!

I saw this on the Internet the other day, and now my local news station ran a syndicated story about it.

Apparently, there is a salon in Virginia that uses fish...carp, to be exact...to remove callouses and other hard/scaly skin from your feet. Don't believe me? Click here for the story.

What do you think about this? Would you be willing to plop your tootsies in a tub full of fish at your next pedi? I think it's kinda yucky. It reminds me of the old times when doctors would use leeches for bloodletting to cure what ails you. I just don't think I want to go there. But I guess I can't knock it til I try it, right?

Product Preview: Blo & Go

Do you ever wish you had an extra arm when trying to blow dry and style your hair? If so, there's a new beauty tool on the market made just for you: the BLO & GO!

I recently got one of these and am giving it a try...I'm having some family/friends try it out as well to see what the final verdict is on this product. I'll post my thoughts about this soon enough, but here is some information about this interesting, potentially problem-solving tool:

BLO & GO is the revolutionary styling tool providing a salon blown-out look at home. With the flick of a lever, simply grip BLO & GO to your mirror or almost any flat surface. BLO & GO frees up your hands from holding the dryer, allowing two hands to style your hair. It holds most size blow dryers, is lightweight, flexible, portable and easy to use. To see a 2 minute spot, go to www.bloandgo.com.

In a very short time, BLO & GO has been featured on "The Today Show", "Good Morning America", "The Early Show" and on the syndicated radio show, "Leeza Gibbon's Hollywood Confidential". Television personality Leeza Gibbons uses this product everyday as does "Bold & The Beautiful" star Lesli Kay. "CSI:Miami" star, Eva La Rue loves it so much she is giving one to gal pals Emily Procter and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Product just went out to Roselyn Sanchez, Ana Ortiz, Eva Longoria, Fran Drescher and Cheryl Ladd (my favorite former Charlie's Angel!).

Like I said, this looks rather interesting and seems easy to use. I'll do a bit more at-home tests before giving you my opinion. If you want to get one for yourself, head over to their website and order one...or two! They're having a BOGO on the Blo&Go! Ha! And if you have used this product yourself, please leave a comment with your impressions.

More on this soon!
