Make-up Trend: Dark Smoky Black Eyeliner
On the cover of November's issue of Harper's Bazaar India Suzanne Roshan's smoky eyes popped right out. The look consists of well-applied bronzy and gold shadow, but it's her liner that stands out the most. Choose a super-creamy black pencil and draw directly over your lash line working from the inner corner outwards. Glide the pencil along the inner rim of your bottom lid for a sultry and very sexy finish.

First things...
(what I saw this morning...like a painting)
Most mornings I have spent the whole night awake editing my youtube videos, until 4,5,6, or even 7 in the morning...then I sleep til about 9:30 or maybe 9:45 and I'm up again...
But the last two nights I've gone to bed before 2:30 in the morning (yay!)...and I have been able to see the sunrise!
There is something quite amazing about watching the sun wake up the day...it feels as if you get to see the day as a blank canvas...full of opportunities and newness. When I wake up later, I always feel like I have to catch up...ha ha ha
Another thing I thought was....how the first thoughts you think...can make or break your day...
Whatever you think about...becomes your priority.
If you wake up thinking about how bad your life is....how you can stop thinking about someone....how you are angry, hurt, or frustrated......what kind of day do you think you're going to have? ha ha ha ha
If you wake up...thankful that you can walk or see, or have a home...thankful that God is shining love, like the sunshine...into your heart...
and you think about your dreams...how you are going to shine love into other people...smiling, saying a kind word, helping someone, holding the door open for the person behind you...giving a compliment...
Today (and everyday), whether you get to witness the sunrise or not...start your day off with only the best thoughts...put hurtful or discouraging thoughts out of your head...and choose only the thoughts that will better you...
We have to choose to manage our emotions or they will run our days and nights...!
And if you feel your emotions are too powerful...they are only as powerful as you let them be...if your heart is broken...begin to say, no....I'm not going to let this other human being that hurt me....rule my day and night...if they hurt you...they certainly don't deserve the power to rule your day. Only let people that make you feel amazing and inspired and loved...effect your day. The other didn't deserve the right to that!
Think about things that are good, positive, loving, encouraging....and all kinds of dreams! Speak kindness and encouragement to others....when you your poor love into others...you'd be surprised how to has a boomerang effect and comes back to your heart too!
huge love to your precious heart.......kandee
Make-up Trend: Rose Gold Eyes
While promoting her new movie, Kurbaan, Kareena Kapoor was spotted with rose-colored lids. Reddish shadow applied too close to the lashes can make you look clown-like. Instead, line your eyes with a subtle gold eye shadow around your entire eye, then add a wash of sheer rose-colored shadow all the way up to the brow bone.

Skin Care 101: Acne-Prone Skin
Acne prone skin isn't just for teenagers. No matter how old you are, acne flare ups can be painful and can make you feel less than beautiful. There are thousands of anti-acne products on the market. Here are some tips in treating your skin.
- Wash your face morning and night. Look for products that are specific for fighting acne. Cleansers containing 2% salicylic acid will keep your pores clear.
- Treat your skin. After washing, let your skin dry completely. Then apply a salicylic acid treatment to your entire face once a day.
- Moisturize...even though you think you shouldn't. Be sure to use a moisturizer that is labeled as "non-comedogenic"--this means it won't clog your pores. And since anti-acne treatments cause sun sensitivity, be sure to use products containing at least SPF 30. Every day.
- Treat zits at night. Products with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide will reduce acne causing bacterias. Don't do crazy things like dotting toothpaste on your pimples--that won't help. Instead use products designed to zap your zits.
- Avoid abrasive products. Grainy exfoliators can rupture your pimples which may make them last longer. This can also lead to some scarring. Instead, use a mask with sulfur once a week to soften skin and shrink your pimples or use a more gentle exfoliant.
- Use the right kinds of makeup. Look for foundations and other cosmetics that are non-comedogenic. Mineral makeups are especially good.
- Don't pick your zits! Again, doing so could lead to scarring and further infection.
- See a doctor if your acne is very bad or not easily treated. There are plenty of prescription products (like Retin-A) that can help you.
- Be sun safe. See #3 for why.
- Benefit Boo Boo Zap!, $20 (targeted zip-zapper that is gentle enough to use during the day)
- Clinique Acne Solutions Clear Skin System, $32.50 (starter kit with cleanser, gentle exfoliator, and moisturizer, all designed to fight acne)
- Dermadoctor Ain't Misbehavin Intensive Skin Correcting Sulfur Mask with Phytosphingosine, $45
- Bare Escentuals Rare Minerals Blemish Therapy, $28 (contains sulfur and helps heal, seal, and prevent blemishes)

The look that Vimi was going for day two, was "Greta Garbo being invited to a Venetian Masquerade Ball in the 1980's."
Make-up Trend: Coral-Rose Lips
With skin so flawless, dark brown eyes, and free flowing waves in her hair, Katrina Kaif could not look more ethereal on November's issue of Vogue India. But instead of going for the soft pink lips she's usually spotted with, Katrina's make-up artist Subhash Singh opted for a coat of a warmer, rosier shade—which hit just the right note of sophistication. To try the look, choose a gloss with slight orange or beige undertones.

Skin Care 101: Sensitive Skin
Thankfully, I do not have sensitive skin. If I did, it would cut down the number of products I could try out for you all! But if you have sensitive skin, trying new products--or just finding products that don't irritate your skin--can be frustrating. Here are some tips:
- Read labels carefully. You'll want to avoid products containing an over abundance of chemicals. Look for products that are "fragrance free" whenever possible.
- Test before you buy (if possible. If not, save your receipts!). If you have sensitive skin, you'll need to learn how to do a skin patch test. Apply a small amount of product on your arm or neck--some place not too noticeable. If a reaction occurs, don't use that product.
- Wash and moisturize with care. Like dry skin sufferers, don't use a bar soap on your face. Instead, try a gentle creamy cleanser. Follow up with a moisturizer designed for sensitive skin.
- You can still prevent aging. There are anti-aging products on the market for sensitive skin. You'll probably want to avoid retinols and opt for kinetin or Matrixyl (a peptide) which is must more gentle.
- Combat redness and inflamed skin. If redness and inflammation are a problem. use 1% hydrocortisone cream twice a day. If any product causes redness, stop using it immediately. And if redness and irritation are especially troublesome, see a dermatologist.
- Use sunscreen and be sun safe--but be sure that your sun blocking products contain zinc oxide or titanium oxide--they're less irritating than other sunscreen ingredients.
- Philosophy Purity Made Simple, $10-$40. (My favorite creamy cleanser--gentle, soothing, and effective)
- Cetaphil Daily Fragrance-Free Moisturizer, $11.50 (dermatologist recommended)
- Philosophy Makeup Optional Kit for Dry/Sensitive Skin, $78 (everything you need in one box--cleanser, serum, eye cream, moisturizer, and peel)

Emo hairstyles and emo haircuts are characterized by often black hair with random splurges of bright coloured highlights. The emo haircuts may also have asymmetrical lines and different colour background hair but the large majority of people with emo hairstyles prefer to dye it black.

Skin Care 101: Oily Skin
Oily skin means shiny slick spots. And to combat it, products are often even more irritating since they strip away all the good oils you need in your skin. When it comes to taking care of oily skin, you need to find a balanced regime and be gentle!
- Use the right face wash. Try to find something that contains 2% salicylic acid. When the weather changes and winter comes, focus the salicylic acid cleanser on your oilier spots only (like your forehead, nose, and chin), and use something milder on your cheeks.
- Keep your T-Zone shine free. Avoid any toners or products containing alcohol, but feel free to use an alcohol-free salicylic acid containing toner on your t-zone only. Apply it with a cotton ball only where you have oil issues.
- Don't skin the moisturizer. It may seem weird to apply moisturizer to already greasy skin, but just because your skin is oily doesn't mean you can forgo hydration. You'll want to use a very lightweight moisturizer or a matte or oil-control face primer to keep your shininess at bay.
- Go easy. You may be tempted to exfoliate a lot or use harsh products, but doing so won't make your oily skin any better. If you want to give yourself a face treatment, try for a mask with salicylic acid and use it once a week. For a special treat, try an at-home peel with glycolic acid once a week (not the same day as the salicylic acid mask, of course!).
- Wear your sun screen! Every day. No matter what.
- DDF Salicylic Wash, $35 (therapeutic but mild facial cleanser)
- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel with Pump, $24 (oil-free, light-weight moisturizer)
- Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Triple-Action Toner, $7.50
Make-up Trend: Bronzy Bridal Look
Heads up winter brides throw away that whitening foundation and embrace your natural bronzy goodness! On the latest issue of Bride & Style Magazine Chitrangada Singh shows of a gorgeous midsummer glow. If powder bronzer doesn't give you enough color, try a tinted moisturizer and pearlescent body lotion. You'll get a more vivid, uniform looking color. Just be sure to rub in evenly to avoid looking streaky.

Holly Madison Hair, Makeup. Fashion Style
Holly Madison's Hair, Makeup. Fashion Style
Holly Madison hosted at Studio 54 in Las Vegas. The event was held at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The former “Girls Next Door” star looked incredible.
Holly Madison's Fashion Style
Holly wore a simple satin red dress that was beautiful on her. The knee-length red dress had a square neckline, short sleeves that were slit on the top to fall around her arms, and a little triangle cut out just below the neckline. The dress was gathered at the waist with a thin, red, satin belt and the skirt fell loosely around her hips and legs to her knees. It was a beautiful dress that was very complementary to her figure. Holly wore gold T-strap high heel sandals and a gold cuff bracelet. She had a Playboy Bunny pendant on that was cute. She carried a very nice red handbag that matched her dress perfectly. Holly wore her hair down with loose curls at the ends. She parted it on the side and accessorized her hair with a large white flower. The flower in her hair helped to bring some personality to her outfit that was refreshing. The style is very nice on her, and brings out her face wonderfully. She wore her makeup perfectly. Holly wore a blue eyeshadow that was great with her blond hair, beautiful peach lipgloss, and wore a touch of blush to bring some color to her cheeks. Her eyeshadow worked great to highlight her eyes and bring out the color in them; Holly has beautiful brown eyes. Dressed simply and in a tasteful outfit, Holly looked truly gorgeous.

leaving things behind....
i once had to move...and all I could take with me was, what could fit in my suitcase...i remember I carefully packed all my little sketch books with my drawings and paintings...my little collection of pens, pencils, and art supplies...and all the things I needed for my little baby...
I remember thinking..."I wouldn't even want to bring all this other stuff with me...into my future...it would just remind me of this yucky past!"....
and that's true for everything...
don't keep dragging your past into your future...
past failures
past heartbreaks
past dissappointments...
your future is too bright to be darkened with the shadows of the past.
I love this.."strain towards what is ahead, forgetting the past"...
too many people drag this big pile of past hurts, past failures, past bad-thinking...and it never lets the beauty of newness and hope really take flight!
Who cares if you've failed at something 200 times...don't tell yourself you're a failure....you're just getting one step closer...
I've made a lot of failed attempts at things...careers, relationships, and so on...
but to be successful, at anything..never let those failures stop you from pressing on towards success in your future...
And sometimes...you have to redo something...and it could make you angry...(like me having to re edit my snow white video and re-post it to youtube....ha ha ha)...or just maybe there's a good reason that I don't know about yet...as to why, if I do it again...it will be better!
leave your past in your past....and run boldy to your future...it's waiting for you, as fresh as can be...every morning!!! this was typed with love....kandee
Sonam Kapoor's L'oreal Shots
Sonam looks awful in the first photograph. Her eyes have BAGS under them. Her make-up looks oily and uneven as well. Awful, just plain awful. I did not expect this from the L'oreal team, especially since renowned photographer Chou Chiang took these pictures. Though, I have to admit she looks stunning in the second picture.
What's your take on the pictures?
Skin Care 101: Dry Skin
Dry skin sucks. Even though I would say that I mostly have combination skin, I do get patches of dry skin on my face and body and I hate it. It feels tight, it's all flaky, and it's makes makeup application interesting. Here are some ways to combat dreaded flaky dry skin:
- Wash your face twice daily, but with care. Avoid bar soaps (they only seem to suck the moisture out of your skin along with the dirt and makeup) and opt instead for a creamy cleanser that contains moisturizing agents like Vitamin E.
- Exfoliate at least once a week. There are plenty of products on the market designed to gently exfoliate your skin while cleansing. Just don't be too aggressive with your exfoliation. You want to slough off some of the dead flaky skin, not rub til you're raw!
- Try a weekly peel. Using a peel with lactic acid once a week will help keep your dry skin from looking dull. Be careful to avoid glycolic acid and salicylic acid--both of which may only aggravate your dry skin.
- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! If your skin feels really tight, try a thicker cream. To better lock in moisture, apply your moisturizer when your skin is slightly damp. And be sure to look for products like dimethicone, shea butter, glycerine, or hyaluronic acid. If you want to keep wrinkles at bay while moisturizing, try a product with retinol, but only use it a few times a week (retinol can make drying worse if you use it ever day). If retinols give you a hard time, go for a cream with kinetin or Matrixyl.
- For all skin types (and yes, I am going to say this each and every day this week): be sure to wear sunscreen and be sun safe.
- Yes to Carrots Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser, $10.50 (contains lactic acid)
- Kinerase Photofacials Sun Damage Reversal System Introductory Kit, $100 (contains a cleanser, day cream with SPF 50, and night cream with Matrixyl)
- Regenerist Night Recovery Cream by Olay, $20 (contains peptides and other good for you products!)
yay I got to play photo shoot!
(CLICK HERE to see the WHOLE PICTURE....)...I don't have have it yet...the eyelashes & FAN are my FAVORITO!!!
some days in life....you have more fun than normal...this was one of those days....(and we all know I could use a fun day! ha ha ha)
being creative and having fun..it felt more like play and fun than anything else....
I do a lot of make-up looks...and I wish I had someone to show, or go somewhere....or wish it was for a photo shoot....and I'm just making youtube videos...so I go and just wash all my hard work off....and start a new one....ha ha ha
I have a very dear friend, Ian Ruhter...who happens to be an incredibly talented photographer...and I always feel so honored when he photographs me! Ian works for huge globally famous companies...that pay him more than I ever could...so I feel so "fancy" whenever Ian wants to let me stand in front of his talented, picture-taking self.
Ian is amazing...and so are his photo projects....his work makes your heart feel the beauty in the image. And he has taken some of the most amazing photos with lil' ol me in em...you can scroll through his blog and see them...from the bubbles one to the balloons in NY...to the brooklyn bridge (one of my fav's...and not because I'm in it...ha ha ha)...I am honored to get to "creative play" with him....and I am honored to have him as a friend.
I wish I lived next door to him...so I could run over and we could play photo shoot everyday! He is so brilliant...and this was probably the most fun I've ever had, having my picture taken...he makes me laugh a lot...so there was a lot of kandee-laughing faces...ha ha ha
I wanted to do a modern-colorful-kandee-twist, with Marie Antoinette as my inspiration. (I filmed the look too...so I'll edit it as soon as I can)...to know me is to know I love color...and this shoot was very kandee-ful! (ha ha ha)
i even had to take the eyelashes off so we could go to lunch...ha ha ha....I'm brave with my looks...but....ha ha ha ha
you can see more upcoming posts at Ian's fanpage....I think he'll be posting the pics from the other look I did too on there...click here to join
WLIFW S/S 2010 Beauty Trends: Rajesh Pratap Singh
The fresh, laid back appearance of the models at Rajesh Pratap Singh came from the minimal eye make-up, bold lips and tousled hair that is a cinch to create at home. Make-up artists Yatin and Jojo to understand more about the look. "The look was avant garde—we wanted undone, unruly hair with different textures but not bed-head hair. It's a look that is new to the eye; flat on top, but with plenty of width for a contemporary form and bounce that really suits Rajesh Pratap's collection," explained Jojo. "For make-up, we focused on pink-orange lips, minimal eye liner and coats of mascara! Orange is going to be the new red in spring summer 2010... Orange nails, orange lips and orange eyes!"
Salmon Lilies
The inspiration for today's look came from this picture: http://www.easytogrowbulbs.com/ProductImages/lilies/LilySalmonClassic5a.jpg
I tried to recreate the lily look on my eyes: First, I drew the outline of the petals with Maybelline kohl in white, then filled them in using white, beige and salmon colours from the Zoeva 88 Mattes palette. I glued on some pearls on the lower lashline and some small rhinestones on the outer part. For the lashes, I cut p2 Lengthening lashes shorter, and cut the surplus lashes into separate parts again, then I glued the "single" lashes to my lower lashline and the longer band to my upper lashline. To finish the look, I also applied some black eyeliner and white kohl on my waterline. VoilĂ :

tears are just watering your blessings.......
I was eating lunch today...and even as my friend was making a joke that made me laugh...an Elton John song was playing on Pandora...and "safely hidden" beneath my houndstooth fedora...tears slipped down my face, as I listened to "rocket man"...a song that reminds me of my dad...and being little, and him springing me up into the air out of the pool...which was a "stunt"...he called "rocket man"....my heart just hurt. And I wanted to be 7 again...working in the garage with my dad...detailing my bike or something. Instead I was much older...but I still felt like a little girl...wanting to feel safe...
the night before, i checked my phone to see a text from my sister about my dad...i can't mention it now, because I don't want my lil people to find out yet...(he is alive...but I just don't want to mention it yet).......but
this...in combination with some other things going on in my life...made tears fall like rain...but hopefully it washed my heart a little...
"Those who sow (work) in tears..shall reap (take in, receive) in joy!"...this was like the biggest hug to my spirit...
We get these thoughts that try to discourage us...break our spirit...steal our joy....
and we MUST...must....be diligent and courageous in our thinking...not letting these pains and hurts of life...try to stop us...and kidnap our joy...
it never fails...as soon as you start working hard for something..going after your dream...trying to quit a bad habit...repairing an emotional wound....
it seems as if a sign that says "please attack me...make this harder than it is"...comes on...and next thing you know your doubting your ability and your strength...
I cried tonight as I drove home...through the dark desert...and as no one answered their phone to talk with my "lonely" little self...I had no options left but to listen to a cd....I put in a cd of mine....and the voice boomed through the speakers right to my heart....
NEVER GIVE UP!!!! Never let your "down" thoughts keep you down....
for after a season...the hard work you went through when the tears were falling.....God will say..."it's okay...your were just watering your blessing with the most precious drops from your heart....."
if you are hurting.....just know every tear is precious....and it is most definitely watering the beautiful flowers of blessings that are just waiting to spring up!!!
huge, huge love from my heart to you......and please feel the hug I'm sending too....I know I could always use an extra "hug thought"......

a very light foundation (any brand will do)
concealer wheel by LISE WATIER (i got mine at www.naimies.com)

a grey-brown...(COPPERPLATE from MAC)
a warm chocolatey brown (CORK from MAC)
A black liquid or cream liner (any brands)
RED lips!!! ( any bright blue-red lipstick)
I used a bright red lip liner (Cherry from MAC)
I used RUBY WOO from MAC

FOR the hair, you just need: bobby pins, hair spray, a brush, and 2 curling irons - 1 small one and one larger...
I got my snow white costume at Spirit...click here for the link...this was the real one...not the "sexy" one..ha ha ha ha
