Get Your Hair Ready for Fall
As we enter the fall season today, it’s important that we do what we can to help prevent further damage that’s already been done over the summer. Luckily, the color trends we will be seeing this fall are conducive to rehabbing your hair – it’s going to be all about giving your natural hair color a chance to shine and staying away from the harsh colors and bright platinum shades that are most damaging to your hair.
“The days of striking, contrasting colors are gone this season,” explains Celebrity Stylist for Pantene, Hallie Bowman. “This fall people will be going back to their roots, or at least making it look that way. We’re going to see natural-looking tones to balance the more extreme hair styles that are going to be big, including mixed textures and nods to the 80s shapes.”
The Color Trends:
Blonde: Platinum blonde is out and warmer, neutral tones are in. If you’re blonde Bowman recommends shades of sable, vanilla or mink. However, if you’re not ready to let go of your platinum locks, soften the look by adding some golden highlights. (Note from Lydia, the platinum blonde: Even though it's fall, I have no intention of ditching my ultra-blonde...no matter what the trends dictate!)
Brunette: Reddish or bluish browns are out and warmer browns are in. Shades like deep chocolate and chestnut are going to be all-the-rage; it’s all about making your shade believable.
Redhead: Two words – true red. The key is to ask your stylist to stay away from blue and copper undertones, both of which reflect orange in the sunlight. One way to avoid orange is to add some highlights to cool down the shade.
Black: Stay away from blue undertones and go for ebony to keep the shade natural-looking.
Maintenance: Once you’ve achieved the shade you want, keeping your color looking fresh can be a challenge, but it doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot! Bowman recommends using a shampoo and conditioner system that is developed for color treated hair, such as the ones from Pantene.

despite a sleep diet the equivalent....of sleep anorexia....I am surprised at my "somewhat" functional thought workings....
My mind and heart were both INSPIRED & IGNITED in the right direction....
"as a man thinks, so he is".... (think great & wonderful thoughts about yourself and your life)
"think upon things that are good and pure" (if you do you'll notice how you begin to feel better!)
"whether you think you CAN or you CAN'T...you're RIGHT!" (so decide that you CAN!!!!)
It will feel weird to change your "old" way of thinking...it will take continual "remindings"...to get your thoughts back on track...
just like the dialogue that goes on when you break up...you can either be:
"OMG! I will never find a guy/girl better than them!!! I will never be happy without them!!! They are the only one for me!!!!"
(insert crying...not wanting to get out of bed....no excitement for living......wanting to destroy whole pints of ice cream!)
OR saying: "There is a reason they are not in my life anymore! The more time I am away, I know I will feel stronger...And I will rejoice that I went through this time of "agony"....when I find the person that will never hurt me... or treat my heart they way I've been treated....I don't deserve that! I am strong....I was made wonderfully on my own...and I will rejoice in my freedom....and eat ice cream only if I really want to! ha ha ha ha
Your thoughts are like the seeds in your garden...whatever they are...they are going to grow into big plants...if you have seed-thoughts of negative, I'm never gonna make it, sarcasm....what kind of flowers are going to grow in the garden of your life, from those seeds?

Barbie was just a plastic doll...but she had her "dream" everything...dream house, dream car....dream dreams...you get it!
I want to encourage each of you to listen to the dream inside you...
you are the only one in the whole world with the everything inside you to accomplish those dreams! Whenever you do something you enjoy and know you can be good at it...you're using your gifts! No one else hears the song that plays in your heart like you do...if you ask 2 people to paint the same sky, each one would be unique and different...just like the one-of-a-kind, voice that speaks inside of you....there will never be another you...you have something the world has never seen!
If you feel like you will never accomplish your dreams because:
you're too young or old
you don't have the training
no one else believes in you
you've never told anyone
you're a single mom
you have kids
not out-going enough (I used to be so shy in school!)
a girl or guy (and it's not an area they normally work in)
you don't live where you need to be
you need to make money
you're not seeing the results you want
maybe your heart is frustrated...and you feel like you might as well cry and mourn the death of your dream!
Well I want to tell you.... DARE TO DREAM BIG & BELIEVE...imagine yourself living that life of your dream...do the uncomfortable steps to get something worth every ounce of hard work you devote to it!
I've had sleepless nights because I was working so hard (gosh, I was up til 6 am editing my Queen of Hearts video...ha ha ha)...I didn't leave my house for days at a time due to working on my projects...didn't go hang out with friends...
I've made phone calls that made me so nervous
I've asked people questions (about helping me)...that took me so long to get the courage to ask....it always was worth it 10 times over!!!!
Here's a quick inspiration:
I have a friend who is a camera man (he is also very young-under 25) ...he called one of the biggest agents for everything in Hollywood (Oprah is with them if that tells you anything)...
he called them everyday...4 times a day, for like 2 months....until they finally sent him the script he wanted (to direct)...(this does not happen normally!)...he got the creators consent...and big name actors want to be in it....
He said..."What do I have to lose!?! All they could say is no.....".....BUT eventually they said yes!
If it feels impossible...know that God specializes in making the impossible...HAPPEN!!!
I am a perfect example...who would've thought a single mom with 3 kids...would be able to take care of her kids....and do what she loves...and become a precious part of people's lives...and encourage them from her little house!?!
I love you and all your precious dreams....so much...sometimes your comments put the biggest smile in my heart...and sometimes they touch me so much I leak all kinds of tears... thank you for sharing your love with me!!!
Now go out and DREAM BIGGER THAN you EVER HAVE.....decide that nothing is going to stop you....no circumstance.......God loves when you dream, because He put that dream inside you! And he has a track record of making things that looked impossible, become amazingly possible!

Beauty Product of the Week: Paint and Peel
What is it? Sula Cosmetic's Paint and Peel is a "collection of good-for-you (nail) hues is inspired by what’s happening on the street and the runway - colors that are hard to come by but not to remove! Touch ups are a snap with the fast drying formula. For extended wear, use water-based Permanent in clear or metallic. Apply 2 coats to clean naked nails. Touch up when required. Peel off when desired--no polish remover needed!" Hard to find--I found it at my local Ulta--for less than $10 a bottle (I think I paid $9).
What did you think? I like that this nail polish is free of the "big 3" nasty chemicals found in some nail products (Toluene, Formaldehyde and DPBs). I also like the idea of not needing to use a nail polish remover since it just seems like one extra step (and one step that also exposes me to more bad-for-me chemicals!).
When I bought this nail polish from Ulta, I didn't have very many shades to pick from. I settled on Moss, and funky green shade. The polish goes on easily--just like every other polish. The color is decent--perfect for Halloween! The green tint had quite a bit of gold and earthy tones to it, and it looked surprisingly pretty next to my very pale skin. I put on a clear top coat from OPI and went about my day.
I was tough on my nails when I was wearing this polish. I got a wild instinct to scrub my bathtub which did not help my manicure last a long time. I noticed that after a day of hard use, the tips of my nails did not have color on them. I also noticed a few "strings" of polish around the side of my nails that was easy to pull off, but a little gross.
After about a day, I wanted nothing more than to but the peel part of the polish to the test. So as my husband and I spent a quiet day playing board games, I peeled all the paint off my nails. It felt oddly satisfying to pick away at the paint and then pull big strips of it off my nails. I can only imagine how annoying I would have been when I was much younger and in school if I had this product. I could visualize myself sitting through a boring math class, picking and peeling my nail polish to my heart's content. Ick.
The polish did all peel off without the need for a nail polish remover...for the most part. There were a few spots that I couldn't get to peel off for the life of me. And the surface of my nails was a little rough and dry immediately after peeling off the paint, but their condition returned to normal after an hour or so.
The final verdict? Peeling off nail polish is both disgusting and satisfying at the same time. It's probably not very socially acceptable to be pulling off nail color in public, but as long as you keep your picking and peeling confined to the privacy of your home, you'll be fine. This product intrigued me and I am left with mixed feelings about it. I wish it was a little tougher and able to withstand my tub scrubbing, but it did what it said: it peeled off easily and my now naked nails are ready to be painted anew.
My one main concern is this: how healthy is this for my nails? Is there any risk of damaging my nails by peeling off the paint? I don't know the answer to this. Anyway, if you're a nail product junkie, you may want to give this a try...if you can find it!
